DigitalHQ clg in Dún Laoghaire awarded over €28,000 in funding

Tánaiste Announces €8.24m Funding for Enterprise Centres, with up to €150,000 awarded to local business hubs

As part of today’s announcement from the Tánaiste of €8.24m in grants for Enterprise Centres around the country, DigitalHQ in Dún Laoghaire is set to receive €28,483 in funding, Fine Gael TD Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has said.

“In my role as Honorary Patron of DigitalHQ, I have seen first-hand the support that the DigitalHQ provides to start-ups and local businesses. An active Enterprise Centre within the town reinforces the level of support available to businesses in the area and is pivotal in job and new business creation.

“This funding will be crucial as DigitalHQ continues to offer services to local businesses during what is an exceptionally difficult time. Enterprise Centres will continue to play an ever more central role in communities across the country as they provide co-working and long-term office space. I believe that securing such space is important now more than ever as remote working becomes the new norm and many businesses disband their central office spaces.” Jennifer Carroll MacNeill said.

On the announcement, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said: “I am really pleased to make this funding available through by Department. It will help enterprise centres all over the country to modernise their facilities protecting the health and safety of people who work there and helping to secure much needed jobs.”

Julie Sinnamon, CEO, Enterprise Ireland added: “Over the past 20 years, Enterprise Centres have provided important infrastructure for entrepreneurs and are an essential part of the start-up ecosystem across Ireland. The Centres, many of which are regionally based, provide space, connectivity, mentoring and support to start-up founders and teams, helping them to scale internationally.

“The funding announced today through Enterprise Ireland will ensure that the Enterprise Centres, many of whom have been negatively impacted by Covid-19, can sustain their businesses, pivot and further develop their services to support the next wave of Irish start-up companies.”
